Flashback Friday: Turning 25

Today is Friday April 1, and I keep thinking to myself, it is really already April? Where the heck did March go?!  Time has been flying by, and I am really stoked because MMT and her friend Carla arrived from the USA.  The three of us are spending the weekend touring Edinbrugh! Tomorrow I am taking the girls to their first Céilidh dance and it will be a guaranteed good time. My mom chose April to spend her holiday in Scotland to help celebrate my 27th birthday. Honestly, I have been feeling a bit indifferent about 27 approaching, mainly because 26 has been one of the most exciting years of my life. With only 5 more days to enjoy being 26, I am now confidently looking forward at turning 27 and can't wait to see what the year has in store for me. If 1 year ago someone would have told me I would be traveling through Europe and working at the University of Edinburgh I would have laughed right in their face. But, the road less traveld takes you in interesting directions, and I must say I have no regrets from the decisions I made this past year. So many people "talk the talk" and I am really trying to "walk the walk." Who knows where the next year will take me?

For this flashback Friday post I decided to write about one of my favorite birthday's I celebrated back in the States. If you have been following me on-line, you may remember I love spending my birthday on the beach. There is something so peaceful about an ocean breeze, the sea, and having your feet in the sand. These are the main reasons I chose to spend my 27th birthday in the Algarve region of Portugal. When my 25th birthday was approaching, my mom decided to rent out a beach house in the Outer Banks (OBX) of North Carolina. She and three of my closest girlfriends, (Sarah, Adrian, and CB) took a road trip from Richmond and spent the weekend enjoying all the the OBX has to offer.

We started every day of the trip with a long walk on the beach. Since it was the off season the beach was empty, and we were able to bring Otis and Lucky (our puppies) to enjoy the beach.

For my birthday breakfast we ate at one of my favorite restaurants in the OBX called The Jolly Roger. They have the best bloody mary's around!

Cheers to turning 25!

While we were in the OBX we visited the Wright Brothers monument. We definitely had some fun goofing around on the planes.

After a few days in the OBX we headed back to Richmond where I met the rest of my friends for a dinner out at my favorite restaurant Sticky Rice. I am already planning on hitting up sticky rice as my first stop when I am back in RVA this June.

Ortie made me a lovely Strawberry Shortcake...

And then pushed my face in it. I love my friends!

25 was a great birthday! 5 more days of being 26 and then onto 27. Let the good times roll!
Until next time, I'll see you on the internet.
