Today has been an amazing day! This morning I picked my mom up at the airport, and after a tearful reunion we grabbed her bags and headed back to my place. We walked outside and to our surprise there was a full rainbow in the sky. After a quick ride through town, we headed back to my flat where she excitedly unpacked her bags and presented me with a multitude of gifts from her, family, and friends from back home. I was a bit overwhelmed with everything, and must say to everyone who sent cards and gifts, thank you so much! I miss you all and can't wait to see you in June. And let me be the first to say I love opening presents!
The gifts runneth over! Here are a few of my favortie items....
Sporty work out gear. You may remember plans for a better Katie in 2011 blog post I have started a major health kick at the start of the year. I can't wait to sport this new peace shirt on my next meadow's run.
Washington DC dish towels from my Aunt and Uncle- thanks guys! They are a perfect fit to my kitchen and remind me of home!
This is one of my favorite gifts that my mom got me- a magnet for my fridge with the quote that inspires me to take the road less traveled! Such a perfect gift!
Candy, Candy, and more Candy. Ok this may not be great for the health kick, but we all need a little something sweet now and then.
New foaming soap. Trust me- this is the best stuff especially for the kitchen sink.
Awesome earrings from Bub and Aunt Pam! This will go great with my new blue dress, devil with a blue dress on!
Carla brought me a fossil of a monkey puzzle cone. I am a bit obsessed with plants. So much that I went to school for 4 years studying horticulture. Carla knew my favorite tree is a monkey puzzle, so this present means a lot to me! Thanks Carla.
My boss Lynne got me this awesome handbag. Yea union jack!
Thanks to all those who sent birthday cards! I love having them in my flat.
I have been talking to my mom about my frustrations about my current camera. It is a few years old, and although it takes good pictures, I can't do a lot of experimenting with photography. I was so excited when she pulled this little gem from the bag. A brand new Canon Powershot SX30 IS 14.1 mega pixel digital camera! I am a bit overwhelmed because I have NO idea how to use this thing, but look forward to reading the manual on the plane to Portugal Tuesday. Hopefully my pictures will improve dramatically!
Now- this may be the coolest gift I have ever seen. My mom found this jacket on the internet, and I like to think of it as an inspector gadget jacket. This thing has over 20 hidden pockets, and you can even store a water bottle or laptop inside. Basically this will be used for when I fly ryan air because they are awful when it comes to cary on luggage restrictions.
You may never know what's hiding inside...
Seriously- amazing birthday gifts!
Thank you so much to everyone who sent gifts and cards. It was more than I ever expected :-)
Until next time, I will see you on the internet.
